We will not use your personal information for purposes that are incompatible with those described in this Privacy Policy without informing you where required.

4. Our lawful basis for using your information

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal information.

Where you join the Career List and agree to receive updates from Iyebiye, we rely on your consent.

Where you contact us with an enquiry, or where we process limited information to operate, protect or improve the website and understand how our services are being used, we may rely on our legitimate interests, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.

We may also process information where this is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.

5. The Iyebiye Career List

If you join the Career List, we may use the information you provide to understand your career interests and to send you relevant Iyebiye updates, resources, pathway information and future opportunities.

Joining the Career List is voluntary.

You can unsubscribe from Career List communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option included in our communications or by contacting us.

Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.

6. Contact form enquiries

When you use our Contact page, we collect the information necessary to receive and respond to your enquiry. This may include your name, email address, enquiry subject and message.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in the Contact form unless it is genuinely necessary for your enquiry.

Information submitted through the Contact form will be used primarily to respond to and manage your enquiry.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Career List information may be retained while you remain subscribed to the Career List. If you unsubscribe, we may retain limited information where necessary to record and respect your opt-out preference.

Contact enquiries will normally be retained only for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards where necessary for administration, record keeping or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

We will periodically review the information we hold and delete or anonymise information that is no longer required.

8. Who we may share information with

We do not sell your personal information.

We may use trusted service providers that help us operate Iyebiye and its website. These may include providers of:

  • website hosting and website infrastructure;
  • form processing;
  • email and communications services;
  • website security;
  • analytics; and
  • other technical services required to operate the platform.

These providers may process personal information on our behalf and are permitted to use it only as required to provide their services to us and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights.

9. International data transfers

Some of the technology providers we use may process or store personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that the information remains protected in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements.

This may include relying on recognised adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual safeguards.

10. Cookies and website analytics

Iyebiye may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the website to operate.

We may also use analytics or other optional technologies to understand how visitors use the website and improve its performance.

Where cookies or similar technologies require consent, they will not be used until the appropriate consent has been obtained.

Further information about the cookies used on the website may be provided through our cookie settings or a separate Cookie Policy as the website develops.

The ICO currently states that users must be informed about cookies and that consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary.

  • complain about how your personal information has been handled.

These rights do not apply in exactly the same way in every situation, but we will consider any request in accordance with applicable data protection law.

12. Complaints

If you have concerns about how Iyebiye uses your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve the issue.

You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

However, no online service or method of transmitting information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
